In the first installment of this series, we talked about why email marketing is important. In this video, StickyAlbums founder Nate Grahek and Frederick Van Johnson will help you get started and show you how to use email marketing to grow your business.
REVIEW
Choose an email list manager such as MailChimp or AWeber. Don’t over think the choices. According to StickyAlbums founder, Nate Grahek, “You really can’t go wrong. Most photographers will use 20% of a services functionality and get 80% of it’s value.”
Decide how you are going to capture email addresses. Nate suggests designing your websites homepage to capture an email and not make a sale. He also believes that sharing starting prices is a better sales strategy than posting full pricing on a site.
“When you share your full pricing, potential clients are able to compare, apples to apples to apples. They only get to know you for a minute and it becomes about price. When giving an email address is required to view pricing, you create the opportunity to get to know you over time.”
Create a Campaign
* Subject lines that ask a question or include a number (“Ten Tips for Choosing a Wedding Dress”) are good bets.
“The subject line’s job is to get them to open the email and
read the first sentence. The job of the first sentence is to get them to
read the second sentence.”
* Write your subject line last to make sure the email is about what you said it was about.
* Be yourself. Be honest. Let your personality shine through.
“You’re competing against everything else in their inbox.
Keep it short, sweet and valuable.”
