I recently did my first Facebook Live chat in our new Photography Mastermind Group.
If you haven’t joined the group, please head over and join today. It’s a great group of motivated, professional photographers who are learning and sharing the ins-and-outs of marketing and running a successful photography business. There are lots of great conversations happening and more live chats planned!
Here’s a short clip from my first By the Numbers live chat with Tanya Smith and some of the highlights from our conversation. Join the group today to watch the full episode.
Tanya has been in business for nine years. Over the past three years, she went from booking 17 sessions a year to 71 sessions last year with an average sale of about $3,600.
What you might be surprised to learn that most of Tanya’s clients don’t book with her right away. In fact, it takes most clients about two years to make the decision to have a boudoir session. Unlike other types of photography, boudoir photography is a luxury — not a need.
To book clients, Tanya has to convince them that it’s something that they want to do and should do for themselves. She has to connect with them in a genuine way and hope that over time, she’ll become their photographer.
This means putting valuable content on her blog and using social media and her private Facebook group as a way to get to know her. Very often, she’s connecting with people over non-photography related topics like kids and margaritas.
Tune in to hear how Tanya approaches pricing, how she’s built her email list and uses email marketing, and how she uses social media and a private Facebook group to network in new and creative ways.
Tanya holds nothing back, so you don’t want to miss this one!
